[baseball] sweet lou

you know it's time that we grow old and do some shit.

autophanous, who is my example in all things awesome, is quite the music pimp. Her collection of fabulous and relatively unknown (by me) music makes me happy in my muzak-loving soul. I have very little quality music that hasn't been snatched from others but today I was going through my pile of CDs thrown about my truck and found my Broken Social Scene album.

As with most of my more obscure and beloved music (Sigur Ros, Lemon Jelly) I found them through Queer As Folk US. Their eleventh track on this cd, Lover's Spit, is from The Scene in season 3 that still makes me believe in love when I remember it. Oh sigh. But I have this habit with music. If I fall in love with one song I listen to it endlessly but I'm terrified to listen to anything else by the performer because it might disappoint me and even ruin my feelings of that one particular song. Because of that I spent months listening to "Lover's Spit" but nothing else by Broken Social Scene even though I had their cd. Finally I let the track move on and listened to the next track and then it was madness! I let the cd play through and start from the beginning and I was more in love with the rest of their music than even that first, beautiful track I heard.

What I love about Broken Social Scene is how they play around with sound. Some of their tracks are lyric-focused (Lover's Spit, Anthems for a Seventeen-Year-Old) but most of them instead concentrate on weaving the song through messing about with different sound styles. I find the more I dive into music the more I appreciate that kind of band rather than lyricists. (Not that I have given up on being a lyric whore for Tori Amos and etc.)

The point of this is that I have uploaded their album You Forgot It In People for anyone who is interested. If you want to only download a few tracks to test how you like them I suggest going with 3, 6, 7, or 11.
