This is a serious post.

Colin Powell on Meet the Press:



"The really right answer is: what if he is? Is there something wrong with being a Muslim in this country? The answer's no. That's not America. Is there something wrong with some seven year old Muslim American kid believing he or she could be president?"

A lot of people are talking about Powell's endorsement, which is important, but this is even more so. I've been waiting so long to hear this said definitively and powerfully and by someone who can't be ignored or wildly misconstrued. Thank you, Mr. Powell, for giving voice to an idea that should be as obvious as the sun in the sky and also using your place in the world to defend a group of people who have been trampled on recently.
